What Family Support is Available in Lochaber ?
The Lochaber area has a range of services supporting families. Family support services funded under the governments 'Sure start' initiative includes:
- NCH families project
- The Kinlochleven Children's Centre
- Community Early years workers.
These initiatives focus on families with children under 4 years old and give a range of support through group work, parenting programme delivery, home visiting and childcare services.
The area social work department also has family support, children's services and specialist disability workers. Support is delivered in collaboration with Education and health services and offers family focussed services to children and their families up to adult hood.
Respite care services through group childcare, childminding and youth services can also provide families with identified support needs.
All support services are predominately accessed on a referral basis through liaison group arrangements where representatives from health, education, social work and the voluntary sector work with the family on identifying an appropriate support 'package'.
