Grants Funding

The Lochaber Childcare & Family Resource Partnership Executive group advises the Highland Council on the allocation of childcare strategy grant monies for Lochaber.

The funding focuses on the creation of 'childcare' places for parents who are working or returning to training however, we recognise the need to support more 'informal' childcare solutions that support families as well as the need to ensure we have a good quality, appropriately qualified workforce to support provision.

The Executive considers applications from:

Playgroups
Parent & toddler groups
Childcare providers
Children's activity programmes which support vulnerable children or informal childcare
Childminders
Innovative initiatives that support families
Umbrella organisations in support of workforce development

New and existing providers are eligible to apply for funds however, existing criteria needs to be met if applicants are applying for 'renewal funds' for their existing scheme.

The Partnership operates a rolling application process only governed by the Executive meetings which are held in February, May, August and November every year.

Childminders

Applications from childminders new and existing are reviewed by the Childcare & Family Resource Officer based on identified areas of need, therefore are not governed by executive meeting deadlines. The maximum award available to new childminders is £200. All new childminders also receive a 'start up pack' in addition to any grant award - worth in excess of £90.00. This pack is develop and distributed by the Scottish Childminding Association via the local SCMA development officer.
