Training and Communications sub-group

Role and remit of the Training & Communications Sub-Group

The training & communications sub-group of the Lochaber Childcare & Family Resource partnership was established in May 2000 to focus on the following remit:

  1. To research and identify the training needs of the current childcare workforce sector in order to assist in the on-going development of a quality, highly skilled workforce to meet the needs of the Lochaber area.
  2. To research and identify the training needs of those considering employment or working in a voluntary capacity in the childcare sector, enabling individuals to progress onto further training and / or employment.
  3. To develop with our partners, new training opportunities which enhance the existing programmes of professional development offered through our partners.
  4. To maximise funding opportunities to progress enhanced training opportunities.
  5. To support partners in publicising training and networking opportunities available in Lochaber
  6. To develop, co-ordinate and implement the Partnership’s annual event focussing on enhancing further the skills of both the childcare workforce and parents.
  7. To act as a central contact and co-ordination point for childcare training providers seeking advice and support
  8. To develop and oversee the publication and distribution of appropriate information literature in regards to childcare careers and training opportunities.
  9. To undertake project work specifically focussing on training and external communications as directed by the executive group.
  10. In April 2003 the groups remit was extended to include the family support sector in line with the Partnerships new responsibilities.

Sub-group membership

The sub-group operates with a core membership and invites partners on a regular basis to meetings which have a specific interest or focus.
