Lochaber Childcare and Family Resource Partnership

Toy Library sub-group

The Lochaber toy library sub-group was established in 2002 to progress the development of a toy library lending service for Lochaber. In 2003 the group established the service with an initial toy donation by the south Lochaber childcare group which had sadly folded. Since its establishment the toy library has gone from strength to strength and now has a comprehensive toy lending service for the Lochaber area.

The toy library sub-group oversee the operational contract, ensures that the services is meeting local need, raises funds for new toys, applies for revenue grants, undertakes promotional activities and monitors the toy library finance.

It also looks at and implements the development of the service in line with the overall partnership strategy.

The toy library sub-group is a member of the National Toy Libraries Association

The remit of this group is to:

  • To issue and oversee the operational contract
  • To ensure the service is meeting local need by monitoring service use
  • To oversee income and expenditure and allocate against funds
  • Undertake promotional activities
  • To submit grant applications and undertake fund raising activities to replace equipment and ensure revenue funds for the on-going operation of the Toy Library service
  • To liaise with the family support sub-group regarding further development
